Actually, "blind as a bat" is just a figure of speech.  Bats do have a sense of sight and when there's enough ambient light (as in the daytime), they can see just fine.  But since they're nocturnal animals and do most of their hunting at night, sight isn't as helpful as their hearing and echolocation ability.

So, if you're striving for authenticity, Rouge wouldn't be blind...she would just keep making clicking sounds with her mouth to navigate her way through darkness.  Which would probably be a bad thing if she's trying to stay hidden.
